Our heavy duty 13thCE French knights helmet is a super strong helm and is made from 14ga (1.63mm) steel, with an additional 13-12ga (1.83-2.05mm) reinforced polished steel face plate. It is a heavy duty, full coverage battle helm and is typical of the type used during the Crusader era. The solid construction features a reinforced crown and cross on the fixed face plate with chin strap. It also has a perforated face area for good air flow. It is a comfortable helmet with padding that provides superior protection.

Pictorial references can be found in this Osprey book titled "French Medieval Armies 1000-1300".

Awesome Helm I have been looking for a full faced helm with good vision for a long time. This helm has the strength and vision needed and is a great historically accurate piece for the kit its goes with.
As with most MFC gear, well worth the money, very satisfied.
16ga paladin Very impressed with the helmet, nicely riveted & padded and suprisingly light. Good amount of room around the face, although vision is limited looking down (but that's just the style) so wouldn't recommend for competitive combat. Smaller size may be a problem if you're going to wear a coif (i have a 56cm head circ. & it fits perfect with an arming cap & coif). Great for show fighting & general 'look at me' posing. See me in it at Balingup Festival 09!
Rank 11 crime solving Paladin... Strong, lighter than other crusader ones, offers more protection than nasal ones.
Expensive, but this hobbie isn't cheap. And this has been worth every cent, in fact it was the first thing I got from MFC.
Though the flat top can cause some mild discomfort, this is easily fixed by wearing an arming cap. Add a mail coif for sheer coolness.
